8:00 5:00 Greening ($$$) the Radon Message: How to Use RRNC & Moisture Control to Build Your Business
(8 Hrs CE) Trudy Smith, Spruce Environmental
This 8-hour course walks mitigators and others from the industry through the process of expanding their business opportunities. The radon industry has shot itself in the foot for decades by ignoring sound marketing principles and restricting its message to a very small market. This course traces the mistakes the industry has made so we can move forward and start to sell radon. Taking time to evaluate our business positions and where we want to go from here is the next step. The course educates participants in the markets that are working and how to tie our radon message to what works. Then, using proven sales techniques, we “green” the radon message by training in cross-selling, a proven money-maker. See how a really successful mitigator has made it work for him.

1:00 to 4:00 PM Recession-Fighting Marketing Tools Jim Morris, ERRTC-Rutgers University
This new, interactive four-hour course will arm radon professionals with practical marketing tools to fight the downward spiral of grim real estate markets. This session will be fun, fast-paced, and, with a room full of radon insiders, expect it to get loud. It also will be full of new stuff. We’ll use handheld electronic remote controls to review results of a 2008 radon industry marketing survey. The technology -- the same system used in “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” lets you instantly compare your answers (anonymously, of course!) with the profitable strategies from the radon industry. We’ll demonstrate six specific small-business marketing tools, including low-cost ways to increase business from search engines (even if your website is lame right now). Taught by a former newspaper reporter, the class also will explain how get your business covered in your local newspapers. We’ll even show how to get your name in 10,000 mailboxes without paying a dime of postage. And because radon that odorless, colorless, and consistently neglected noble gas presents such a touch marketing challenge, we’ll review some incredibly cool tools called Social Marketing. Join the Eastern Regional Radon Training Center for a half-day that features new ideas, new technology and new strategies to have a better year in radon.
