AARST Standard Operating Procedures

1. Purpose

1.1 AARST Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) are intended to provide guidance for the operation of AARST affairs. They represent documentation of Board consensus regarding a variety of subjects in a manner that is readily available and beneficial to Board members and staff.

2. Authority and Adherence

2.1 AARST Standard Operating Procedures are intended to be living documents and shall be reviewed and amended as deemed appropriate by the Board.

2.2 Appropriate flexibility shall not be unreasonably withheld regarding the interpretation and implementation of most AARST Standard Operating Procedure documents.

2.3 In situations where procedures are defined which may affect the arbitration of disputes or interpretation of AARST bylaws, the AARST Board shall adhere to the stipulations set forth in the latest version of the related operating procedure document.

3. Format

3.1 Formats for AARST Standard Operating Procedures are intended to be flexible. Wide format flexibility is extended in order to facilitate the needs of the content while still respecting the time constraints and situations at the time.

3.2 Approved operating procedure documents shall include the date upon which the Board approved the current document.

3.3 The use of blanks ("_____") in an operating procedure document indicates a variable value (such as a dollar amount) to be established and altered as is found appropriate.

4. Addendum Resolutions

4.1 Motions that achieve approval of the Board which are relative to an existing operating procedure document should be added to the related AARST Standard Operating Procedure document. Such items should be listed in an addendum as a RESOLUTION. The RESOLUTIONS shall be prefaced by notation of the date approved and subject. The specific language of the approved motion shall then follow.

4.2 When a complete review or revision of a document is pending, the resolutions shall be reconciled into the revised document being offered to the Board for approval.

5. Maintenance

5.1 AARST Standard Operating Procedures shall be maintained by the AARST Secretary and made available to the Board and members as requested.
